Kent Hughes in the Midst of a Massive Steal Involving Tanner Pearson?
In his very interesting text of the day, journalist Eric Engels, who covers the Montreal Canadiens for the Sportsnet network, discusses what Kent Hughes could receive in exchange for certain players this week of the NHL trade deadline.
The Tanner Pearson file has particularly caught our attention.
A 3rd round pick for Tanner Pearson? That would be a home run for Kent Hughes
See the excerpt in question:
"He is a Stanley Cup winner, a professional, a reliable 3rd or 4th line forward, and the kind of worker that Darryl Sutter demanded when they won together in Los Angeles, and the Canadiens' coach, Martin St-Louis, thinks he has been playing excellent hockey for a while. [...]
But still, it's hard to imagine that this would bring them more than a third-round pick for Pearson at half price." - Eric Engels
I don't know about you, but a 3rd round pick for Pearson, who was dropped by Vancouver, would be quite a return for Kent Hughes in our opinion.
The Los Angeles Kings are particularly interested!
31 years old and acquired for free in the Casey DeSmith trade, Pearson has accumulated 50 points in his last 124 NHL games.
For a 3rd round pick with salary retention, do you believe it?
It would become two 3rd round picks acquired for DeSmith, which has the value of a second-round pick in the draft.
