A Trade Between the Canadiens and Maple Leafs Involving a Forward Could Be Easy to Complete

A trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs involving a 24-year-old forward would, in fact, be easy to make right now.
It's relatively common to see a team clearly put a player on the trade market, but it's much rarer to see multiple sources confirm that a team is actively and aggressively trying to trade a player.
There are roughly three levels of trade likelihood when a player is on the market:
1. The team is simply listening to offers for the player.
2. The team has officially put the player on the trade block.
3. The team is actively trying to trade the player.
In the case of Nick Robertson with the Toronto Maple Leafs, we're at level three.
I'm not sure if he's a player that would interest Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, but it's worth noting that he would be easy to acquire.

Could a trade involving Robertson and
Joshua Roy be an interesting option?
Elliotte Friedman: "Toronto is investigating options for Nick Robertson. At some point in the summer, they pitched a move for
Yegor Chinakhov, but that wasn't to the Blue Jackets' liking" - Sportsnet (10/23)"
"I think Nick Robertson in Toronto, that's one I think the Maple Leafs are trying to solve, I think people kinda recognize it's time, so we'll see if they can find something there."
- Elliotte Friedman, 32 Thoughts
Nick Robertson, 24 years old, is the younger brother of Dallas Stars star forward
Jason Robertson.
He was a second-round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2019 and has totaled 57 points in 162 career NHL games, despite limited ice time.
He scored 15 goals in 69 games with the Leafs last season and has 41 points in his last 39 games in the American Hockey League.
