A realistic trade proposal emerges between the Canadiens and the Avalanche involving Ryan Johansen and Jake Allen
The file on the upcoming trade of goaltender Jake Allen from the Montreal Canadiens continues to buzz around the NHL, and now experts have just put forward a concrete proposal.
Let's remember that none other than Jake Allen's agent recently requested a trade to Kent Hughes (involving one of the goalies) live on TVA Sports:
Knowing all this, and knowing that the Colorado Avalanche has a serious and real interest in Allen, see the offer that Jeremy Filosa and BPM Sports have just suggested.
It would allow Cayden Primeau and Samuel Montembeault to play more.
"What could be interesting for Hughes is a trade with Colorado who is looking for a veteran backup goalie. You take Ryan Johansen, who is underperforming, with his salary of $4M for next year, for Allen and a pick."
"Johansen actually makes $8M per season, but Nashville pays half of it. It practically changes nothing on the cap, it solves the goalie problem, it adds an option to St. Louis on attack, and like Allen, his contract ends at the end of next season."
- Jeremy Filosa via X/Twitter
It's a big thing to consider for Kent Hughes, but it solves a big file.
Could Ryan Johansen become an offensive powerhouse under Martin St. Louis? We doubt it, but it's not impossible either.
As for BPM Sports, they outright suggest the "1 for 1" trade:
"Would you trade Jake Allen for Ryan Johansen?" - BPM Sports
Johansen, 31, is a 4th overall pick (1st round) in the 2010 NHL Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
He has 20 points in 56 games this season (11 goals), after having collected 28 points in 55 games last season and 63 points in 79 games the previous year.
He would cost four million against the Habs' salary cap, a bit more than Jake Allen. (until 2025)
