While the topic of the number of Quebecer in the Montreal Canadiens organization continues to stir up some chatter, the excellent Anthony Marcotte of BPM Sports has just enlightened us on an interesting point.

Kent Hughes took an interest in a Quebecer defenseman, but the latter did not want to sign with the Canadiens' organization for a specific reason.

"Nikolas Brouillard confirms that the Canadiens were interested in his services but the club did not have an NHL contract to offer him." - Anthony Marcotte

It was an AHL contract offer.

Brouillard eventually signed a two-way contract with the New York Rangers. Therefore, he has won his bet, made the right decision, and we wish him the best of luck moving forward.

Brouillard, 28 years old, is a Quebecer defenseman standing at 5 feet 11 inches. He has racked up nearly 80 points in his last two seasons in the AHL, with the Anaheim Ducks' affiliate team. He has been really solid (39 in 66 and 39 in 72.)

Let's recall that in the past few hours, Jonathan Drouin, Alex Belzile, and Anthony Richard (all Quebecois) have left the organization.
