We witnessed another blood-chilling scene across the ocean during a hockey game.
Following a brutal collision, 26-year-old double Olympic medalist Sanni Hakala suffered a concerning accident.
She is currently paralyzed from the waist down according to reports from Finland, and they don't know if it will return. (we are wholeheartedly hoping it will)
The incident occurred during a match between HV71, Hakala's team, and Djurgarden, in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL).
A recount of the scene.
In the first minutes of the match, Hakala was speeding and tried to position herself in front of the net.
Unfortunately, she lost her balance and crashed onto the ice, sending her headfirst into the goalpost. She remained motionless on the ice for a long time.
"Finnish national women's team player Sanni Hakala was seriously injured during a match in the Swedish women's league. She collided head-on with a post during the game. According to the Jönköpings Posten, she has no sensation in her extremities, from the waist down."
A paramedic revealed other very worrying details:
"We pressed several times very hard on her leg, with a very strong force, and she did not react."
We send her our most sincere positive thoughts, and we so hope she recovers from these serious injuries.
