Sidney Crosby's agent has made an announcement regarding the rumor circulating about the Penguins' number 87 forward.
Unfortunately, everything indicated that Crosby would not be able to travel to Rimouski to attend the Memorial Cup, and that has just been confirmed by his agent.
"Sidney Crosby will not be making a stop in Rimouski during the Memorial Cup tournament, despite efforts by the organization to attract him before the end of the competition.
Number 87's agent, Pat Brisson, confirmed to the Journal on Monday morning that Crosby would not be traveling to Bas-Saint-Laurent." Kevin Dubé, TVA Sports
Brisson had previously said it was unlikely, but he has now received confirmation from his client.
It's Official: No Sidney Crosby in Rimouski This Week
So, unlike Patrick Roy, Barry Trotz, and a few other big hockey names, Crosby will not be able to make the trip.
According to his agent, number 87 will be spending time in Europe in the coming days, as he was already overseas representing Canada at the IIHF World Championship.
Despite the effort, the Rimouski Océanic organization ultimately wasn't able to bring in the most popular player in its history, possibly for the most important week in its history.
At 37 years old (turning 38 in August), Sidney Crosby had another outstanding individual season with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
