It was a farce last night when it came to the officiating in the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers.
Especially after seeing the following footage, people still can't believe the heartbreaking penalty that was called on
Josh Anderson:
Anyway, following all that, we learned something interesting during the press conference, thanks to
Brendan Gallagher!
We're talking about the following sequence:
Gallagher confirmed that the NHL official admitted to making a big mistake by calling a penalty on that play... And it turned into a costly one since it really hurt the Montreal Canadiens for the rest of the game!
"Brendan Gallagher voiced his opinion on the officiating of Thursday night's game between the Canadiens and Oilers." - TSN
"Habs furious with officiating tonight.
Brendan Gallagher said the officials admitted they made a mistake on the call on Slafkovsky and he felt the call on Anderson was because the official felt Anderson showed him up.
"He didn't," Gallagher said."
- Eric Engels
Incredible... And even after that, they still insisted on harshly penalizing Josh Anderson!
It's truly ridiculous. In the end, last night's matchup between the Canadiens and Oilers will be remembered less for the goals and more for the chaos caused by questionable officiating.
Let's recall that the Montreal Canadiens are back in action tomorrow night against the Vancouver Canucks.
