We have new information regarding the two demotions announced earlier today by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
Yes, it puts an end to the three-goalie logjam, but there's more to it.
These two demotions mainly give the organization some breathing room under the salary cap.
When players are close to returning to action, you can't keep everyone up, even if you like the idea.
The key point is that the Canadiens get back under the salary cap and move out of LTIR territory.
It may sound technical, but it's very real.
It gives you flexibility again to activate a player, make a call-up, or simply breathe a little between games.
It feels like a return to play is coming for Patrik Laine, Kirby Dach, and Jake Evans

Owen Beck didn't make a lot of noise, but he left his mark.
With Montreal this season, he scored one goal and has a +4 plus-minus rating.
By going back to Laval, he'll mainly get regular ice time again.
As for Fowler, the club has also clarified its management plan.
He already has four wins with the Canadiens and recorded a shutout.
For such a young goaltender, that's an impressive calling card.
But it's not an argument to have him sit three games out of four behind two other goalies.
The other reason is the wave of returns to play that's approaching.
Kirby Dach is being closely monitored, and news is also expected on Jake Evans and Patrik Laine following today's practice.
When those names get closer to returning, you need to free up some chairs before the music starts again.
These demotions don't say that Beck or Fowler have failed.
They say the Canadiens want to avoid congestion, both on the salary cap and in the lineup.
