We had plenty of action last night during the matchup between the Montreal Canadiens and the Vancouver Canucks. In the end, Martin St-Louis' squad fortunately escaped with a great and important 4-2 victory, but it was the work of the referees (particularly Chris Lee) that drew attention after the game.

We talked about it earlier today regarding the questionable penalties (and non-penalties), but there's more.

There was controversy surrounding the Canucks' first goal, scored by defenseman Filip Hronek.

The Canucks' first goal was not valid, according to several experts and the available video replays

Watch the sequence in question.

Today, several experts believe that this goal should never have been allowed, simply because Canucks forward Pius Suter was clearly in goaltender Samuel Montembeault's crease, and because there was contact.

See what he had to say on the matter.

Ultimately, referee Chris Lee awarded the goal, allowing the Canucks to get back into the game, but in the end, it was in vain (fortunately for the Habs).

You can understand why Samuel Montembeault didn't want to make the "call" himself, but those on-site should have seen that Suter was clearly in his crease, which is obviously not allowed.

In the end, the Habs won 4-2, thanks to another solid performance from Montembeault, who stopped 29 of the 31 shots directed at him.

Additionally, Jakub Dobes will be in net for his team tonight against the Seattle Kraken.

This will be another crucial 2 points to secure.
