We have an update within our large Montreal Canadiens organizational chart. Jonathan Yantsis' name can now be crossed off the list of forwards in the organization.

Yantsis, who was playing at the third level of the organization (the lowest), has officially been released by the Trois-Rivières Lions.
The ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens just confirmed the news:

Jonathan Yantsis released by the Trois-Rivières Lions

So we won't be seeing him at the next Laval Rocket training camp-or the Montreal Canadiens', of course-unless there's a major turn of events.
Yantsis had been developing within the organization for about two years, and now he departs just as the Lions are gearing up for a major playoff run.
The 25-year-old forward stands 6 feet 2 inches and weighs 210 pounds. He recorded 11 points in 38 games this season with the Lions (along with 23 penalty minutes), and 3 points in 8 games last season.
Yantsis had been productive at Queens, putting up 37 points in 26 games, 9 points in 16 games, and 26 points in 19 games.
In junior hockey, he played with the Kitchener Rangers (OHL), and had two very solid seasons:
- 73 points in 68 games in 2019
- 59 points in 63 games in 2020
He also added 85 penalty minutes in both seasons.
We wish him the best of luck in the next chapter of his professional career.
More details to follow.
