We have a surprising development from the Los Angeles Kings involving forward Jack Hughes, who is the son of Kent Hughes.
The son of the Montreal Canadiens' general manager will not be signed by the Kings and will be completely free!
This is a golden opportunity for Kent Hughes to sign his son and add him to the Habs organization for free.
Drafting him with a 1st or 2nd round pick might have raised eyebrows, but signing him as a free agent.. why not?
The Los Angeles Kings have decided to let go of Jack Hughes, the son of Kent Hughes
This is big news for the Habs' GM.
"The Kings are not expected to offer Jack Hughes an entry-level contract before the August 15 deadline, which would make him a free agent.
Hughes, 21, has five goals and 20 points in 36 games played with Boston University (NCAA) this season.
Hughes was selected 51st overall by Los Angeles in the 2022 NHL Draft."

It's really unfortunate for Jack Hughes, who must be disappointed, but it presents a great opportunity for his father.
Do you think Hughes could help a team like the Laval Rocket?
This will definitely be a situation to watch.
Jack Hughes, 21 years old, is a 6-foot, 170-pound forward who was a second-round pick of the Los Angeles Kings in 2022.
He collected 20 points in 36 games this season with Boston University in the NCAA.
It will be interesting to see what happens next, but there's likely to be NHL interest in his services.
