We have a first announcement for you on this Montreal Canadiens game day. This morning at the Bell Centre, Martin St-Louis brought back the morning skate.
It's a small change, but it immediately grabs attention. In recent games, the Montreal Canadiens had mostly stuck to a lighter routine.
Now, ahead of tonight's game against the Detroit Red Wings, the Habs decided to lace up early again.
On Wednesday, Montreal defeated the Calgary Flames 4-1.
On Thursday, the Canadiens followed that up with a 6-2 win over the Florida Panthers.
So the action resumes today!
Alexandre Texier was at the heart of that stretch. On Wednesday, he recorded three points, with one goal and two assists. On Thursday, he added a hat trick, the first of his career.
In 26 hours, he piled up six points, including four goals, at the Bell Centre.
Martin St-Louis changes the week's routine and calls a mandatory morning skate today
Tonight, the challenge remains serious. Detroit arrives looking to stop the wave.
For the Canadiens, the objective is simple: keep playing with the same confidence, without getting carried away by the past week, as they look to protect their spot atop the Atlantic division.
One thing is certain: the Bell Centre will be ready. After two convincing wins and a hat trick that's still being talked about, the atmosphere should be electric from the opening faceoff.
"The Canadiens will hold a morning skate at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday."
