Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov had nothing but good things to say about the Montreal Canadiens' acquisition of the year in 2024.
Before the game in Carolina on January 1, a 7-5 Canadiens win, Ivan Demidov received an unexpected welcome far from the rink.
The tone is simple, but the message is clear: Svechnikov didn't know Demidov very well and came away impressed.

This kind of small story fits perfectly into the day-to-day life of a young player trying to carve out a place for himself.
In the same message, Svechnikov adds that you can see Demidov works hard and really wants it.
When it comes from an established NHL player, it says a lot. The most interesting part is the human context behind it all. A dinner means time, questions, and a real conversation.
It can be a trivial moment, but it can also calm a young player, especially when everyone is watching.
When a guy like Svechnikov says he's impressed, it sounds like a little boost of confidence.
