The Montreal Canadiens' head coach, Martin St-Louis, has indeed just spoken about a significant injury to Patrik Laine.
In a press conference just minutes ago, he mentioned the following.
Martin St-Louis spoke about a resilient group that will once again be tested by a significant injury to a key player. Some will get tryouts before the season starts on October 9th.

Marty was emotional talking about Patrik Laine in press conference this morning:
A significant injury for Patrik Laine
Once again, it's not the surprise of the century, but yes, we are talking about a serious injury here, and unfortunately, we likely won't see Patrik Laine back in uniform anytime soon.
This morning, the Finnish forward showed up in Brossard to attend practice, and his knee still appeared to be in very bad shape.
«No official update yet on Patrik Laine or
David Reinbacher, but seeing Laine on crutches and his knee heavily reinforced and protected is not a good sign...»

In short, we continue to keep a very close eye on this situation for you.
When
Kirby Dach suffered a serious knee injury nearly a year ago to the day, the Montreal Canadiens made an official and complete announcement the Tuesday following the injury (which also occurred on a Saturday).
So we expect to have a definitive answer tomorrow, or later today, but it's good to see that the organization is taking its time with this case.
We continue to send positive vibes to Patrik Laine and David Reinbacher, who must be as (if not more) disappointed than all of us by the unfortunate turn of events for them.
As for Reinbacher, this situation is becoming worrisome for his development
