Kent Hughes Breaks Silence on Three Canadiens Trades, Including a Home Run
Recently, in an interview with journalist Eric Engels, the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, commented on numerous matters.
Present in an interview for the first time in a while, Hughes also took the opportunity to discuss three trades completed by the Canadiens over the past few months.
It's interesting because he explains very clearly the thought process behind each of these trades.
Kent Hughes comments on three trades completed by the Canadiens
See the excerpt in question. It concerns the trades involving Noah Dobson, Logan Mailloux, and Justin Barron.
"We are looking forward to seeing what he will bring to our team (Hughes, speaking about Noah Dobson)
And I think one of Noah's strengths, which we knew from Logan Mailloux, was his shot from the blue line."
"We lost Logan in the trade for Zack Bolduc, and Justin Barron, who could shoot very well, we traded to Nashville.
So we traded two right-shot defensemen capable of shooting.
I would say having shots from the point was a weak spot for our group, so I think adding Noah is beneficial, in addition to his ability to move the puck and the variety he brings."

We highly recommend Eric Engels' full article on this topic and his interview with Kent Hughes.
This gives a very clear view of the elements Hughes (and Jeff Gorton) considered during the thought process that led to these trades.
In the end, I think we can say these are three smart moves by Kent Hughes, including the acquisition of Noah Dobson, which is truly a home run!
