The Laval Rocket, the farm team of the Montreal Canadiens, has just confirmed some great news involving goaltender Jacob Fowler.

Jacob Fowler has been selected for the American Hockey League (AHL) All-Star Game. His last game with the Laval Rocket dates back to December 6, which makes this quite incredible.

Jacob Fowler selected for the AHL All-Star Game despite the small sample size

Will he be sent back to the AHL soon to take part?
Does the AHL know something we don't know yet?
To be continued.
It's news that puts a smile on the faces of Laval Rocket fans, but it also brings the Canadiens' three-goalie situation back into focus.
The more praise Fowler receives, the more Jakub Dobes appears to be waiting his turn, without knowing when his next opportunity will come.
What makes the selection even more striking is the context.
The AHL All-Star Classic will take place on February 10 and 11 in Rockford, during the Olympic break.
Fowler will therefore be able to attend without being affected by the NHL schedule, giving the organization a great showcase for its young goaltender.
The Rocket won't be alone in the spotlight.
Laurent Dauphin and Adam Engström were also selected, and Pascal Vincent will be behind the bench for the event.
It puts Laval on the map and confirms that the team's season has not gone unnoticed. Meanwhile, Fowler continues to gain ground at the NHL level.
With the Canadiens, he has already played nine games, posting a 4-3-2 record, a 2.46 goals-against average, and a .908 save percentage. He has also recorded a shutout.
For a young goalie just breaking into the NHL, those are solid numbers that fuel the conversation night after night. And that's where things become a bit cruel for Dobes.
The Canadiens can't keep three goaltenders for long without disrupting someone's rhythm.
When a goalie doesn't play for a stretch, it's hard to get back into sync, even if he keeps a smile on his face.
It's also worth noting that Jacob Fowler is set to start tonight in Buffalo against the Sabres, reinforcing the level of trust the Canadiens are placing in him right now.
Fowler's All-Star selection doesn't settle the situation on its own, but it adds another layer to the discussion.
