Unusual scene in Buffalo as two young Canadiens players break protocol
We were treated to a rather unusual scene earlier today, as two young Montreal Canadiens players got a little too excited.
Lane Hutson and Ivan Demidov were so eager to jump onto the ice that they did so while the Zamboni was still doing its job.
We saw this in Florida last season, and there were some minor sanctions, so in short, this is a situation worth monitoring.
See the video clip below:
"Hutson and Demidov don't care about the Zamboni!"
Lane Hutson and Ivan Demidov decided to jump onto the ice while the Zamboni was doing its job
The two youngsters were so eager to get on the ice that they went out while the Zamboni was still working. In the video, we see a rare and frankly funny moment. The scene was a lighthearted one, as the two players couldn't wait a few more minutes before stepping onto the ice.
But it's also a reminder that this is not allowed.
For months now, we've been talking about their passion, their routines, and their desire to be on the ice. This scene is the "zero patience" version of that story.
Hutson, for his part, doesn't seem to be lacking energy this season. After 47 games, he has 45 points, with eight goals and 37 assists. Last year, he played 82 games and collected 66 points.
On the other side, Demidov. After 47 games, he has 39 points, with 10 goals and 29 assists. On the rookie leaderboard, that total still places him at the top.
That explains why every little scene involving him goes viral. Before that, he had already proven he could produce anywhere. In 2024-2025 in the KHL, he recorded 49 points in 65 games.
Here we see two young stars who just want to play, again and again. And in Montreal, that's something people absolutely love.
