The young Montreal Canadiens forward, Ivan Demidov, has indeed already confirmed his intentions for his medium-term future.
Ivan Demidov plans to spend a second summer in Montreal! The information comes from a discussion in which Dan Milstein spoke about his client.
The key word here is again.
Demidov doesn't just want to "stop by", he wants to settle into the Montreal Canadiens' routine for good.
On the ice, he currently leads all NHL rookies with 40 points, and it's fair to think that his strong season is linked to his summer of 2025, which he spent in Montreal.
Staying here in the summer means training, but also immersing himself. We saw it last year with several members of the Canadiens, who spent a lot of time in Montreal.
The sessions at the CN Sports Complex, the dinners, the group life, it creates a collective reflex even before training camp.
Ivan Demidov continues to establish himself as a franchise cornerstone for the Montreal Canadiens
In 2024-25, he recorded 49 points in 65 games in the KHL. Before that, he had collected 60 points in 30 games in the MHL.
When you arrive here with numbers like that, you could very well choose to spend your summers elsewhere.
But he chooses Montreal, again.
It's a message to the locker room, and a message to management. It says that he likes the environment, that he likes the city, and that he wants to move forward with this group.
As he is clearly preparing to sign a contract extension here, it says a lot about his intentions!
And obviously, it does indeed put the contract discussion back on the table. Not because there is urgency, but because the timing exists.
The more Demidov puts down roots, the more the idea of a deal that keeps the Canadiens flexible becomes credible.
Fans love points, but they also love stories that feel like loyalty. In the end, this is not an announced signing.
It's a clue.
And in Montreal, clues rarely end in silence-especially with Kent Hughes as general manager.
