Ivan Demidov Makes Official Decision on Jersey Number for Upcoming Season with Canadiens

As Charles-Alexis Brisebois reminds us, it's easy to forget, but the famous jersey number of young Ivan Demidov was a big issue when he arrived here.
He would normally have taken number 91, but Oliver Kapanen already had that number, so Demidov decided to finish last season wearing 93.
From the way it was announced, it really felt like the door was open for Demidov to change his number this summer.
Both players had indeed mentioned that they could then make a change during the summer, since Kapanen was very open to giving 91 back to Demidov.
"But from what we've heard through the grapevine, right now there are no plans in Montreal to change player Demidov's number."

That said, the deadline to change jersey numbers in the NHL seems to have passed, and Demidov is still wearing 93!

That's good news for everyone who bought his number 93 jersey!
So we can't wait to see number 93 in action this fall, impressing Montreal Canadiens fans.
The least we can say is that Demidov is working extremely hard this summer.. So hard that Hughes is trying to limit him the same way he did with Lane Hutson.
