Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens announce two new surprising hires
In the past few hours, the Montreal Canadiens organization announced two interesting hires.
Two very interesting hires for the development of the Habs' top prospects.
Kent Hughes and the Habs hire Lauri Korpikoski and Alex Burrows
See the official statement.
«The Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations for the Montreal Canadiens, Jeff Gorton, announced on Tuesday that the team had hired Lauri Korpikoski as a player development coach. He will be based in Europe. Gorton also announced that Alex Burrows will now serve as a player development consultant.» - Montreal Canadiens
So it really didn't take long for Alex Burrows, and we are very happy for him.
These are two experts who together have played more than 1500 career games in the National Hockey League.
Now 37 years old, Lauri Korpikoski is a Finnish forward.
He was the 19th overall pick by the New York Rangers in 2004 (1st round) and amassed 201 points in 609 career NHL games, including 86 goals.
He knows very well the pressure that comes with being a young first-round pick, especially in a big market like Montreal or New York.
Korpikoski ended his playing career during the 2022-23 season, during which he recorded 24 points in 43 games with TPS Turku, in Finland's top league.
Welcome to Lauri in the Montreal Canadiens organization!
More details will follow.
