We have some fairly important news involving a Montreal Canadiens prospect in net.

Let's just say we won't be seeing him joining the Montreal Canadiens or the Laval Rocket anytime soon.
"Habs prospect goaltender Yevgeni Volokhin signs three-year, two-way extension with Spartak until May 31 2028."

Bad news for those who were hoping to finally see Yevgeni Volokhin arrive in North America

It's going a bit under the radar, but along with Jacob Fowler and Jakub Dobes, the Montreal Canadiens have built themselves a nice little pipeline of young goaltenders (obviously led by Fowler).
Volokhin also appears to be extremely promising.
At just 20 years old, Yevgeni Volokhin is a 6-foot-3, 167-pound young goaltender who is really starting to make waves.
A 5th-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 2023 (144th overall), he was actually drafted in the same year as a certain Jacob Fowler.
"We call or text every two or three weeks. Whenever there's something important, we talk," explained Volokhin.

"Sometimes, they offer me advice about my game or mental preparation."

He also added:
"I know about their starter, Montembeault-he's good, I like him. I've also heard of Jakub Dobes but haven't followed him much. It's probably too soon since I haven't arrived in the NHL yet," said the young goaltender. - Volokhin

This season, Volokhin has a 1-0-0 record in the KHL, with a goals-against average of 2.41 and a save percentage of .892.
In the VHL, he has a record of 8-4-2, a goals-against average of 1.77, and a save percentage of .935.
Yes, that's very solid!
We'll therefore continue to keep a close eye on him over the next few years, over there.
