We already have a big change to report on offense for the Montreal Canadiens after last night's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

After the poor performance from young Oliver Kapanen and the superb showing from Owen Beck, please note that it is now Beck who finds himself centering Ivan Demidov and Patrik Laine.
It also feels like Beck has just moved ahead of Kapanen in the battle for a roster spot with the Canadiens to start the season.

Change on the Montreal Canadiens' Second Line

This will definitely be something to watch in the coming days!
"Owen Beck now with Patrik Laine and Ivan Demidov now, and it leads to a strong offensive zone presence."

- Marco D'Amico

Of course, during training camp, lines and pairings often change, so take it with a grain of salt. However, what should be noted is that Beck now seems to have surpassed Oliver Kapanen in this competition for a forward spot (in Montreal) to start the season.
Kapanen, 22 years old, is a 6-foot-2, 194-pound forward who was a second-round pick by the Montreal Canadiens in 2021.
He collected 6 points in 11 games with the Laval Rocket during last season's playoffs.
Beck, 21 years old, is a 6-foot, 199-pound forward who was a second-round pick by the Montreal Canadiens in 2022.
He collected 6 points in 13 games with the Laval Rocket during last season's playoffs (44 points in 64 regular season games).
