I think we can clearly say it loud and clear, but the Montreal Canadiens hit a massive home run with their 2019 first-round pick.

When Cole Caufield was selected 15th overall, a lot of people were mainly talking about his size.
Today, it's other teams talking about him, and for very good reasons.
After the 4-3 win against the Minnesota Wild a few days ago, there was even a defenseman from the opposing team who ended up saying it out loud.
Brock Faber explained that, in the final minute, Caufield is the most dangerous player on the ice (possibly in the entire NHL).
He insisted on one simple thing: this guy scores, and he scores big goals.
When an opponent sums you up like that, it means your name truly commands respect.

Cole Caufield is without a doubt one of the biggest draft steals of recent years

"He's the most dangerous player on the ice (in that final min)... That's what he does. He scores. He scores big goals."

The numbers back up that impression perfectly.
This season, Caufield is on pace for around 45 goals.
Last year, he completed an 82-game season with 37 goals and 70 points.
It's a progression that ends a lot of debates, whether Bill Guerin likes it or not (Hello, Team USA.)
In his NHL career, he has nearly 150 goals and is approaching 300 points, despite his young age.
For a 15th overall pick, that's already production that carries serious weight, especially when you see how consistent he remains year after year.
In the locker room, that kind of respect coming from an opponent doesn't go unnoticed.
It's also a reminder of why the draft is sometimes about patience and conviction.
The Canadiens kept him, developed him, and now he's reached the stage where other teams mention his name before even talking about the rest.
The draft is supposed to build your future.
With Caufield, the Canadiens already have a present that shines, and will keep shining for a very long time.
We love it!
