The show of Mathias Brunet with Martin Lemay on BPM Sports radio are always entertaining.

When it's not a lively discussion with strong arguments on both sides, it's hilarious moments.

Mathias Brunet proposes an offer for Mike Matheson that sparks reactions

On Monday night, Lemay and Brunet once again delivered a great radio moment.
The discussion, which started on the team's defensive pairings in light of Kaiden Guhle's possible return to the lineup, quickly went in a different direction.
It was the conversation about Mike Matheson that stirred the most reaction during this segment.
In fact, the journalist presented the host with a contract extension offer for the veteran defenseman that surprised many.
Indeed, Brunet would be ready to offer him $20 million over a four-year contract.
The idea here is to retain the services of a veteran who accepts his role in the lineup and is still playing very solid hockey.
However, Brunet doesn't want to overpay or offer too many years to the veteran, who will be 31 years old by the end of his current deal.
For him, $5M per year until the defenseman turns 35 is acceptable, especially with the upcoming increase in the salary cap.
With the possible departure of David Savard, the Habs need a veteran of Matheson's caliber.
His value goes beyond the points he collected last season, as his game has greatly evolved.
Averaging 25:02 minutes of ice time per game, he plays an important role in all aspects of the game, including on the penalty kill.
The question, however, is whether Matheson himself would agree to keep the same annual salary he currently earns.
All of this with the goal of staying in Quebec, on a team that could be excellent in the coming years.
Kent Hughes, being the skilled negotiator that he is, will surely find the right words to convince him that he's part of the solution in Montreal.
