Tyler Toffoli's pace should decrease

Last year, despite the shortened season, Tyler Toffoli had one of the best seasons of his career, if not THE best. The Ontario native scored 28 goals in 52 games, while finishing the campaign with a 17.7% shooting percentage, by far his best season. Let's just say that he was nothing short of imperial.
However, as Jason Pominville indicated on 91.9 Sports, Toffoli has only exceeded 15% twice in his career, including the 2021 season. In his 10 games with the Canucks in 2020, he flashed the red light six times, good for a 15.8% percentage, which is also excellent.
Closing out a season with a 15% rate is very good, but 17.7% is close to excellent and still a rare occurrence, hence Pominville's belief that Tyler Toffoli might go down in this column. Pominville is not denigrating Toffoli, far from it, he has only calmed some expectations about him.
All of this is to indicate that, yes, Toffoli has a killer shot. Yes, he can hit the 30-goal plateau, but he should not be expected to score 40 in 2021-22. We shouldn't put that pressure on him. After all, he has only reached the 30-goal plateau once in his career.
