The Montreal Canadiens announced that they have cut goalie Cayden Primeau and defenseman Kaiden Guhle.
Primeau will join the Laval Rocket, while Guhle will head to Prince Albert in the WHL, where he will captain the team. It was only a matter of time before this happened.
Primeau needs to play a lot of games to continue his development. He has had a lackluster training camp, which tells us that he is not ready for the big club. He will likely be the first goalie for the Rocket, with whom he will have a huge season.
Guhle will play with the Habs sooner or later, but on the top-six. There is no way a 19-year-old is going to be a fan of the stands. Like Primeau, he needs to play a lot of hockey this year. He will be a big part of Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships. It would not be surprising if he averaged a point per game with the Raiders this year.
That's a nice message to send to both youngsters. The Montreal Canadiens staff will be patient with them. They must not be rushed.
As for Ryan Poehling, Dominique Ducharme confirmed that he will be at the Montreal Canadiens' practice tomorrow. It would be surprising if he is in the Toronto lineup, but everything leads us to believe that he is part of the 23 players in the Montreal lineup.
