After being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs against the Lightning, the Florida Panthers made some notable additions this summer. In addition to the contracts offered to forwards Anthony Duclair and Sam Bennett, the team announced today that they have reached an agreement with Sam Reinhart.
Just over two weeks after switching from the Sabres to the Panthers, the British Columbia native signed a three-year contract that will pay him an average of $6.5 million per season.
Reinhart, who was acquired in return for a first round pick and goaltender Devon Levi, had a strong season last year with Buffalo, reaching the 25-goal plateau.
The Sabres' second overall pick in 2014 had his best season in 2018-19, when he had 65 points in 82 games. He now has 295 points in 454 games played in the Bettman circuit.
Expectations will certainly be high for Florida next season, especially after last year's heartbreaking elimination. It will also be interesting to follow the rivalry between the Panthers and the Lightning that took another dimension during the previous season.
