During the intermission between the Montreal Canadiens and the Tampa Bay Lightning, Pierre LeBrun, a very reputable insider in the NHL, talked about the CH's next GM.
According to his information, even after almost seven days on the job, Jeff Gorton would not have asked any representative of another team for the vacant position in Montreal.
However, according to him, Gorton will start his search very soon and not surprisingly, Mathieu Darche would be a real candidate. Look no further, Darche has been hiding from the media during his stay in Montreal. He must have heard the rumors about his name starting to circulate around town.
It's likely that the search is taking a while to get underway, as Gorton may not have finished assembling the committee that will help him select the successful candidate. This is just speculation, mind you.
We should know the identity of the next CH general manager after the holidays, according to Gorton's report. By then, he will have time to "boss around" the league, which suggests who will really be the boss in the Montreal Canadiens' offices.
