As we know, the Chicago Blackhawks decided to go for a complete rebuild this summer with the departures of Alex DeBrincat and Kirby Dach, two of the best young players in the organization.

And it looks like this is just the beginning, because as Marco Normandin of Habsolumentfan.com reports, another big name could be leaving Chicago and we're not talking about just anyone.

According to what reporters Gene Principe of Sportsnet and Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff are reporting, the Edmonton Oilers are reportedly very active right now in acquiring forward Patrick Kane.

This isn't the first time this rumor has been reported, and even Michael DeRosa of Thehockeywriters.com has put forward four Oilers players the Blackhawks would have in their sights, Jesse Puljujarvi, Warren Foegele, Philip Broberg, as well as young Quebec prospect Xavier Bourgault.

Even though Kane will be playing the last year of his contract in 2022-2023, the price will most likely be very high for Ken Holland if he wants to add the number 88 to his team, but if negotiations with the Blackhawks do not work out, Seravalli and Principe mentioned that Phil Kessel could be the Oilers' plan B.

Obviously we're not talking about the same caliber here, but Kessel could cost a lot less than Patrick Kane, who will be paid $10.5 million this season.

It will be interesting to follow this issue in the coming weeks because unless there is a huge surprise, the season could be quite long in Chicago and it is likely that Kane, as well as Jonathan Toews could very well be in their last moments in the Windy City.
