Demoted to the Laval Rocket, Mattias Norlinder made news on Tuesday when he told a journalist that he would like to return to his country for a long time, for his team, the Frölunda Indians.
These comments have obviously made fans react, who saw frustration in his case, but the agent of the young Swede quickly decided to clarify the situation, he says that the words of his protégé were misinterpreted.
"The quote was taken completely out of context. Forget about it. Norlinder is here to do his job and the CH decides where he should play," he said.
One thing is for sure, even if the option to return to Sweden had some advantages, Norlinder could benefit from his time in Laval. In addition to getting quality playing time and being available for a possible recall, the young man will be able to continue to adapt his style to North American rinks in a level of play for which he is much better prepared than the Bettman circuit.
He will also be able to play in a competitive environment and fight for a playoff spot, which will be much more positive for his development than staying around the Habs. In short, let's hope that the Habs' 2019 third-round pick also sees this opportunity as a good one, as the organization has not always been successful in developing its young European prospects...
