After many rumors and speculations earlier this week, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens have finally acquired a defenseman.
Former 2018 first round pick Nicolas Beaudin is now a member of the Tricolore's roster. He was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks.
Many people have noted that he is left-handed and that the Canadiens currently (really) need a right-handed player more.
However, in an interview after the trade, Beaudin made a statement that explains a lot:
"In the 25 games I've played in the National League, I've played 20 on the right. Last year in Rockford, I played 75% of the games on the right." - Nicolas Beaudin
We love it! Kent Hughes would have finally acquired a defenseman to play right. We can't wait to see him in action!
Beaudin also mentioned during the interview that he had asked the Blackhawks for a trade following the departure of Stan Bowman. His wish was finally granted.
Do you think he could replace Chris Wideman with the Habs?
