On Monday, the Chicago Blackhawks confirmed the rumor that had been circulating for a while by officially announcing the hiring of Luke Richardson as the team's head coach. It didn't take long for the Habs to respond by thanking their former assistant coach with a message on social media.
In order to replace Richardson, several names have been thrown around. If John Torterella's name doesn't make sense anymore because of his appointment in Philadelphia, we could hear Rick Bowness, Dan Boyle, Jim Montgomery, Jacques Martin and Alain Nasreddine's names to name a few.
In a recent speech, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman suggested replacing Luke Richardson behind the bench of the Canadiens with the finalist of the Jack Adams Trophy, awarded to the best head coach of last season, Andrew Brunette.
Of course, he's not saying that's what will happen, but that it's an interesting option. The tipster also mentions that Philadelphia would be an option for Brunette to back up John Tortorella.
