22-year-old forward leaves the Canadiens organization to continue his career in Europe

We once again have activity to report within the Montreal Canadiens organization.
The Trois-Rivières Lions announced that forward Tommy Cormier is continuing his career in Europe.
The 22-year-old left winger played over 100 ECHL games, posting 55 points (17 goals, 38 assists). He also appeared in 14 playoff games last season, helping the Lions win the Kelly Cup.
Within the Montreal Canadiens' organizational structure, this type of departure happens quickly, without warning, and forces everyone to readjust.
When a player leaves at the third level, it affects potential call-ups, frees up a seat in the locker room, and changes the options if the Laval Rocket needs to make a move of its own.
It's the classic domino effect, Trois-Rivières Lions edition.
Tommy Cormier placed on suspended list, leaving the Canadiens organization for Europe
The Canadiens have a surplus of forwards these days, and every decision eventually ripples all the way down to Trois-Rivières.
While things are settling at the lower levels, the Habs continue to stack reasons to stay in the mix.
There is also a very human element to this. A player choosing Europe speaks to opportunity, role, and a career decision.
In short, one less name in the organizational depth chart, and one more decision added to the pile on management's desk.
The season is long, but decisions never take a break.
"The Trois-Rivières Lions have placed forward Tommy Cormier on the suspended list in order to remove him from the active roster.
He will be leaving the organization to pursue other opportunities in Europe.
Thank you for your time Tommy, and best of luck moving forward."
