There are always hockey card collectors, and they get to open packs that are a lot more exciting than a good old-fashioned pro set... 1 of 10 cards, signed cards, or cards with a piece of jersey on them, didn't exist when I was 11 or 12 years old.
That being said, this introduction leads me directly to Recchi Robichaud, one of the biggest collectors of Connor McDavid cards. By the way, he is named Recchi because his father was a "crazy" Mark Recchi fanatic. To get back to the 15-year-old, he has over 500 Connor cards, having expanded his collection during the pandemic.
Thanks to this passion, he was able to experience two unique situations. First, he had a Tim Hortons card autographed by McDavid. He mailed it in and a few weeks later it was back with the Edmonton Oilers captain's signature.
The second thing, still thanks to this nice collection, he was obviously noticed by McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers, so for the young man's 15th birthday, he received tickets for the September 28th pre-game, when the Seattle Kraken will be visiting Edmonton. Let's hope that 97 is in uniform at that game, hehehe.
In short, the young New Brunswick native can say that his spending on McDavid cards is worth the cost!
