He, who was obviously not released by the Chicago Hawks to represent Canada at the WJC, would have really liked things to go better for his team.
The fact that he outright mentions being heartbroken by this defeat, even though he's not directly involved, says a lot about him, his character, and his passion.
Bedard is the real deal, and probably if given the option, he would have wanted to go help Canada score goals and bring home the gold. (because yes, Bedard could have represented his country this year at the Junior World Championship) He's still of age.
Bedard could even play next year for Team Canada Junior, which is completely incredible.
It's easy to forget, but this year, Canada could have counted on the services of Connor Bedard, Adam Fantilli, Kevin Korchinski, Shane Wright, and Zach Benson on its team this year if these players had received permission from their respective NHL team.
That could have changed everything, but anyway.
The point here is especially to highlight that Canada's defeat didn't go unnoticed by Connor Bedard, far from it!
Let's hope to see him at the Olympics one day! In the Canada uniform!
