A huge blow has just struck the Lightning just days before the playoffs, and it has come at an extremely high cost

Just days away from the highly anticipated start of the National Hockey League playoffs, a massive setback hits the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The team has been hit by a wave of significant injuries, including one that is particularly concerning.

"Jon Cooper told reporters after the game that his concern about Tanner Jeannot's leg injury was 'high... of course.'"

The Lightning's big acquisition at the most recent trade deadline, Tanner Jeannot, is in danger of missing the playoffs due to a worrisome leg injury.

It's worth noting that Tampa Bay specifically paid a hefty price for Jeannot because of what he can contribute in the playoffs.

Recall the trade:

To Nashville: defenseman Cal Foote (a first-round pick) along with a 2025 first-round pick (top 10 protected), a 2024 second-round pick, and 2023 third, fourth, and fifth-round picks.

To Tampa Bay: Tanner Jeannot

This is a situation to keep a close eye on.

The injuries are piling up for Lightning ahead of their matchup against the Leafs, with Anthony Cirelli, Brandon Hagel, Tanner Jeannot, Pat Maroon and Erik Cernak all currently battling injuries.
