Major trade concluded between the Habs and Flames last year: the biggest steal of Kent Hughes' career is confirmed

What a steal by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
We've talked a few times about this transaction concluded between the Habs and the Calgary Flames in August 2022, but there's new development.
Let's remember that the Habs acquired Sean Monahan and a 1st round pick, in return for... absolutely nothing!
As you know, Monahan is today one of the best players of the CH, possibly the best this season, and Kent Hughes could receive a 1st round pick in exchange if he decides to trade him. (according to several experts).
In short, the CH possibly acquired two 1st round picks entirely for free.
But that's not all.
Major Development from Pierre LeBrun
The insider has mentioned in the past few hours that the Calgary Flames have just put four major players on the trading market, four players who will be traded by the deadline. Wow.
We are talking about Noah Hanifin, Nikita Zadorov, Elias Lindholm, and Chris Tanev. This includes their 1st center and best forward, their #1 defenseman, and their best defensive defenseman.
In brief, a rebuild seems to be shaping up in Calgary, or at least, a significant "reset."
What's the link with the CH?
Well, let's just say that the 1st round pick acquired entirely for free in the Sean Monahan transaction has just gained a lot of value.
With all these players evidently leaving Calgary, their team will weaken significantly, hence their 1st round pick will be much higher than expected, which is obviously great news for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
Imagine if it becomes a 2nd overall pick, or a top-5 pick.
This could really become the biggest steal of Kent Hughes's career.
