The Ideal Trade Between the Canadiens and Predators Is Shaping Up

Sometimes, a trade naturally takes shape between two teams, and that's what might happen between the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville.
We have Frank Seravalli reporting that
the Predators are seriously exploring the trade market to acquire a third or fourth-line center.
At the same time as confirming this information, Seravalli added that the Montreal Canadiens are looking for a right-handed defenseman and that the Predators might trade
Alexandre Carrier.
A trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators involving Alexandre Carrier and Christian Dvorak?
«The Predators have seriously explored the trade market for a center.»
«Alexandre Carrier could be used as a trade piece by the Predators.» - Frank Seravalli
Do you think a Dvorak-for-Carrier one-for-one trade could be something of interest for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens?
A young player like
Owen Beck could possibly replace Dvorak at center eventually.
Alexandre Carrier, 28 years old, is a Quebec-born right-handed defenseman with 6 points in 25 games this season.
He earns $3.75 million per year until 2027.
Personally, I believe Carrier would currently be more useful to the Canadiens than Dvorak, but the additional term on his contract is a major obstacle to his acquisition.
With identical contracts, however, I would have opted for the defenseman.
