Successful trade for Patrik Laine? Big last-minute scoop
BPM Sports Network has just shared major information regarding forward Patrik Laine and the Montreal Canadiens.
According to a publication by David Ettedgui, Kent Hughes has recently become very active in the Patrik Laine case.
A trade on the horizon between the Montreal Canadiens and the Columbus Blue Jackets involving Patrik Laine
The connection between Laine and Montreal isn't new, but it now seems to be intensifying.
«My sources tell me that the Canadiens are actively working on the Patrik Laine case. There are definitely some logistics to work out. Let's stay close to this story.»
- David Ettedgui
«If we end the day with Laine, I'll take it.»
- HFTV
We will therefore monitor this closely, but it makes so much sense as a "fit."
Given that Kent Hughes hasn't been able to sign Jonathan Marchessault or Steven Stamkos via the free agent market, has he decided to turn to Laine?
It seems to be the case.
Patrik Laine, 26 years old, 6 feet 5 inches, and 215 pounds, was the second overall pick in 2016. He has scored 9 points in 18 games this season, 52 points in 55 games last season, and 56 points in 56 games the season before that.
Let's not forget his absolutely phenomenal first two NHL seasons, during which he scored 36 goals (at 18 years old) and 44 goals (at 19 years old).
He could be an interesting project for Martin St-Louis and Kent Hughes, and moreover, it seems he won't be too expensive to acquire.
