Penguins and Sabres Complete the First Trade of the 2025 NHL Season
We have a trade to announce, a minor trade between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Buffalo Sabres.
The Penguins made the following announcement:
«The Penguins have acquired defenseman
Colton Poolman from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for forward
Bennett MacArthur.
Poolman is signed through the 2024-25 season and will report to our AHL affiliate.»

Here is our first trade of the 2025 NHL season.
Colton Poolman, 29 years old, is a left-handed defenseman standing 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 200 pounds.
He has been playing in the American Hockey League since the 2020-21 season. Before his trade to the Penguins, he played for the Calgary Flames and Buffalo Sabres organizations. (obviously)
This season in Rochester, he recorded 1 point in 5 games with a -2 rating.
As for Bennett MacArthur, he is 23 years old, a left-winger standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 194 pounds, and he recorded 7 points in 28 games this season with the Wheeling Nailers.
The former Acadie-Bathurst Titan (QMJHL) player also has 6 games of experience in the AHL after a successful junior career.
He notably recorded 77 points in 54 games (42 goals) and 40 points in 33 games (28 goals) during his last two seasons in the QMJHL.
