As we reported earlier, Columbus is looking for a forward in the trade market:
General Manager Waddell even confirmed that discussions are currently underway to finalize a trade in this regard.
There are intense negotiations happening behind the scenes!
The Blue Jackets need to add a forward, but not just any forward. Ideally, they would need a solid veteran with a fairly high salary (due to the NHL salary cap floor).
With that in mind, host Georges Laraque indeed suggested a major trade for Kent Hughes and Don Waddell, a big trade involving Brendan Gallagher.
Wow. Personally, I think that's way too high a price, especially considering that the Habs don't necessarily have to trade Gallagher at this time, especially given that Gallagher played very well at the end of last season.
Gallagher, 32, is a 5-foot-9, 183-pound forward. He was a 5th-round pick by the Canadiens in 2010. Last season, he scored 16 goals and 15 assists for a total of 31 points in 77 games.
And you, would you make this trade?
The Canadiens' No. 11 is signed for $6.5 million per year until 2027.
