Former Montreal Canadiens Defenseman Involved in a Trade
We had a rare trade completed after the NHL trade deadline, involving a former member of the Montreal Canadiens organization.
It is worth noting that, even after the well-known trade deadline, teams can still make trades, but the players involved are not eligible to participate in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
In short, an interesting transaction has just taken place between the New Jersey Devils and the Detroit Red Wings, involving a former member of the Montreal Canadiens organization, who primarily played with the Laval Rocket.
See the official announcement.
"The Red Wings have traded Tory Dello to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for future considerations."
Detroit Red Wings
Tory Dello, 28 years old, is a 6-foot, 205-pound right-handed defenseman who has been playing in the American Hockey League since the 2019-2020 season.
In two seasons with the Laval Rocket, he recorded:
18 points in 55 games in 2021-2022, with an incredible +28 rating.
15 points in 48 games in 2022-2023, with a +13 rating.
He was once considered a promising defensive prospect for the Montreal Canadiens, but he mainly served as an extremely reliable player for the team's AHL affiliate.
We wish him the best of luck in New Jersey and Utica.
Tory Dello was signed by the Wings last July after a successful stint, notably with the Laval Rocket.
