Many experts are searching for an ideal and realistic acquisition for the Montreal Canadiens during this 2025 offseason.

Well, speaking of acquisitions for the Canadiens, here's one that is very intriguing and highly realistic.
The Canucks would like to trade him before July 1st, when his full no-movement clause kicks in.
In the past few hours, the Canucks have indeed dropped a major hint about an upcoming trade involving two forwards.
We're talking about Pettersson, but also Brock Boeser.
In Boeser's case, he could simply leave on July 1st, but they could also trade his rights. In any case, all signs point to him having played his last game in Vancouver.

The Vancouver Canucks Launch Their Marketing Campaign Without Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser: A Golden Opportunity for the Montreal Canadiens

Clearly, the two star forwards are no longer in the Canucks' plans, and clearly, they are available for trade.
The Vancouver organization has indeed launched a major marketing campaign in recent days (to boost season ticket sales), and it features four Canucks players: Quinn Hughes, Jake DeBrusk, Conor Garland, and Kiefer Sherwood.
Let's just say that putting a guy like Sherwood ahead of Pettersson and Boeser, with all due respect, speaks volumes about the organization's intentions.
Do you think Kent Hughes should take advantage of this and go after an elite centerman?
What's more, the Canucks seem more focused on landing Gavin McKenna than on making the NHL playoffs, so they could be interested in prospects and draft picks.
Stay tuned!
Elias Pettersson, a 6-foot-2, 26-year-old center, has recorded 45, 89, and 102 points in the last three seasons.
Brock Boeser, a 6-foot-1, 28-year-old winger, has put up 50, 73, and 55 points over the past three seasons (including 40 goals last season).
