The first concrete trade offer from the Penguins to Hughes for Jeff Petry has just been revealed
As part of the trade concluded by the Penguins involving forward Teddy Blueger, a Pittsburgh journalist dropped some very interesting information.
According to Penguins' dedicated journalist Josh Yohe, Pittsburgh's initial offer in exchange for
Jeff Petry was as follows:
Kent Hughes refused the offer.
Pettersson, 26, is an excellent defensive defenseman, but rather average offensively. He has 18 points in 58 games this season and earns $4 million per year until 2025.
Blueger, 28, was a 52nd overall pick in 2012. He has 10 points in 45 games this season, in addition to scoring 92 points in 250 career NHL games.
It is worth noting that Jeff Petry and Ryan Poehling were eventually traded to the Penguins, but for Mike Matheson and a 4th round pick in 2023.
If you want my opinion, this last transaction is much better for the Habs. Matheson has shown some very promising things.
"The original trade for Petry was: Blueger & Pettersson for Petry & Poehling. The Habs eventually refused, demanding Matheson. Hextall was still willing to trade Blueger." - Josh Yohe
Really interesting! Solid work once again from General Manager Kent Hughes.
