Disgusting: horrible revelation involving some players from Team Canada Junior
This is extremely unfortunate and regrettable.
We just learned that young players from Team Canada Junior, hockey players aged 17 to 20, let's remember, have received hateful messages and threats via social media, following their defeat yesterday against the Czech Republic.
This is unbelievable and disgusting.
It must have already been difficult enough for them to lose, in a heartbreaking manner moreover (with a goal eleven seconds from the end), and now they have to deal with this.
It's really sad,
Even if the fans are disappointed, it absolutely does not excuse the fact that some players from Team Canada received threats and hateful messages on social media.
Fraser Minten, who was the captain of the team and who is a prospect for the Toronto Maple Leafs, was particularly targeted by the anger of the fans.
These young people do not deserve this, and we can only loudly denounce these excesses.
Let's hope they can be well supported by good people to help them get through this ordeal.
Let's be true fans and good supporters, let's be better than that!
Gord Miller reported that the players received hate for simply being a part of the team.
"I understand that people in Canada are disappointed with the QF loss, but it's disheartening to hear that some of the players are being subjected to nasty personal messages on social media. There's no need for that, they did their best and lost. Two years ago Canada won a gold medal in OT after a miraculous goal line save by Mason McTavish, last year they won the QF in OT on Conor Bedard's goal after a deflected Slovak shot hit the shaft of Thomas Milic's stick. It happens." Bonk was the main player attacked since the game winning goal deflected off his stick..
"Oliver Bonk put his Instagram on private after being attacked by Canada fans for a play that wasn't even his fault.
Bonk's shown how open he is about his mental health and for grown adults to attack a kid playing in a hockey tournament for teenagers is sick and disturbing." Credit:
