Josh Anderson exits tonight's game
The Montreal Canadiens confirmed it during the game. The forward will not be going back on the ice, and when an announcement comes that quickly, you know it's not a good sign.
Skating on a line with Phillip Danault and Zachary Bolduc, he had been playing very well over the last few games.
Now, all of that falls apart right in the middle of the evening, and the bench suddenly gets shorter.
This type of situation often forces the rest of the group to take on extra shifts. Notably, we saw Juraj Slafkovsky being used on two different lines in the final minutes.
For the Canadiens, it's another situation to monitor closely. Fans want answers, but we know how this works.
Often, it's labeled as an injury, and very little detail is given at the time.
We'll have to wait and see what comes next, and especially whether he misses the next game.
In the meantime, it's a night where Martin St-Louis has to manage a major unexpected setback. We'll be watching to see who takes on more responsibility, and how the group responds.
One thing is certain: losing Anderson and Matheson on the same day is far from ideal. Let's hope neither injury is serious.
File to follow!
