Last-minute surprise change regarding Matvei Michkov, and it's causing a huge reaction
In the last few hours, the phenomenon Matvei Michkov played his very first preseason match in the KHL with SKA Saint Petersburg since being selected 7th overall in the 2023 NHL Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers.
We were in for quite a surprise, a major change.
Michkov was used as a center for the entire game, and apparently, his coaches have a strong intention to truly make him a star center. Wow.
In his first game as a center, Michkov finished with 1 goal and 1 assist (2 points) and scored a shootout goal.
You can guess that if he becomes a number one center, his value will increase even more, and the Flyers might have hit a massive home run.
Clearly, he is already proving many people wrong:
"Really impressed with Matvei Michkov in his first game as a Center. He's fighting for puck battles, yes he's lost some draws, but that shall improve over time.
He looks good as a 200 ft player, and he has a goal and an assist to boot"
