Tampa Bay Lightning's spectacular turn of events: a very big decision has just been made
We witnessed a real bombshell orchestrated by Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper today.
During their game against the Buffalo Sabres, Cooper made a very bold decision.
Never before seen at Lightning:
During the third period of the game, Cooper surprised everyone and decided to bench Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, and Brayden Point.
All three!
Here is his explanation:
"As a coach, you have to put your team in the best possible position to win. These players give us the best chance to win 99.9% of the time when they're on the ice, but I didn't feel that was the case for 20 minutes today. The standards are high here, and everyone has to adhere to them."
Jon Cooper
Wow! You read that right!
Zero presence in the third period for Kucherov, Point, and Stamkos.
A very big message sent here.
