The decision to pass on Matvei Michkov at fifth overall in the 2023 draft was one of Kent Hughes' most controversial choices.
Since he arrived as general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, it's probably the decision that generated the most (negative) buzz, and yet, time is starting to prove him right.

"I am baffled as to why Sean Couturier would say this about Matvei Michkov
Not something you should hear from your captain..."
- Philly Sports Sufferer
Basically, he mentions that it's all well and good, Michkov is good at scoring goals, but he also needs to find ways to help the team when he's not able to score...
Sean Couturier on Matvei Michkov:
"Yes he's a great goal scorer, and he has a lot of skill. I think just have to find a way to contribute, helping the team win in other ways, you're not always scoring. I've seen improvement in not cheating as much."
- Jamey Baskow
That's pretty much the essence of his message!
It's definitely a move that hasn't gone over well...
For now, Flyers fans seem to be taking Michkov's side and are saying that a captain shouldn't publicly throw a young teammate under the bus like that.
And you, what's your opinion on all of this?
