Western conference source claims the Canadiens are still chasing a top-six forward
The acquisition of Alexandre Texier by the Montreal Canadiens cannot be described as a major addition, and we know that Kent Hughes' shopping is not finished.
We know the organization is still looking for a top-six forward, especially after losing Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook. It's no longer a secret that the general manager of the Canadiens is trying to bring in help up front, and a well-known insider just added fuel to the fire.
A source from a Western Conference team confirms a rumour involving Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens
According to Marco D'Amico via RG Media, he stated that a source from a Western Conference team claims that Hughes is still trying to acquire an impact forward.
"Montreal is not done, that's for sure," said a Western Conference source. "They'd still like to add a centre or a top-six player to their lineup."
"Hughes is active in making calls and checking in on players. We know Nashville and St. Louis are also talking to everyone right now. "Lots of chatter, let's see where it goes."

Let's just say there could be smoke around the St. Louis Blues-with Jordan Kyrou's name surfacing-and around the Nashville Predators as well.
Even if D'Amico's statement is not surprising, the fact remains that the current market is very thin for forwards who can make a significant impact.
Things are likely to change in the coming weeks, as some teams will shift into seller mode, but we should expect that Kent Hughes may need to part with some important assets.
Perhaps prospects such as David Reinbacher and Michael Hage will be offered to other general managers in an attempt to make a big splash.
